The Cardiac Rehabilitation RN is responsible for working with cardiac patients following a heart attack, cardiac or valve surgery or interventional procedure. Must have a good understanding of heart anatomy and function, rhythm recognition, medications used in the treatment of heart and lipid disorders and knowledge of risk factor modification techniques. This includes demonstrated knowledge of human growth and development, assessment skills, treatment, and care appropriate to the ages served. In addition, the individual must be willing to learn principles of exercise physiology and operation of various types of exercise equipment and techniques.

Follows the nursing process to include: assessment, planning, documentation, and implementation as it relates to Cardiac Rehab.

Responsible for daily patient and family education.
