Registered Nurse II –Cardiac Step Down Unit


Regional Medical Center of San Jose continues to add new and improved services to benefit patients. With six centers of excellence, including emergency and trauma, Regional Medical Center is known for its JCAHO-certified Primary Stroke Center and delivering superior care across our cardiovascular, women and children’s health, neurosciences, cancer care and medical and surgical services. 

We are currently seeking full-time Registered Nurses II to join our team in the Cardiac Step Down Unit for our night shifts. The Nurses will coordinate total nursing care for acutely ill and patients admitted primarily for cardiac evaluation and treatment, respiratory compromise and infections, stable neurological disorders, diabetes mellitus, dehydration, and dysfunction of the gastrointestinal system. Candidates will function as experienced clinically competent nurses who provide safe and effective nursing care and may work as a clinical preceptor in providing mentorship and guidance to new employees. In addition, they will participate in patient/family teaching and provide leadership by working cooperatively with members of the healthcare team to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.  

Qualified candidates must possess: 

  • California Registered Nurse License
  • Graduate degree from an accredited nursing program
  • Basic Life Support Certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
  • A minimum of 1 – 2 years of acute care nursing in a medical surgical setting
  • Experience in nursing with an emphasis on trauma, neurosurgical, pulmonary, and general surgical care is preferred
  • Critical thinking skills to prioritize aspects of patient care
  • Good interpersonal and intrapersonal communication skills
  • The ability to calculate medication dosages and safely administer medications
