CVICU - Clinical Nurse Specialist

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced CV Clinical Nurse Specialist to impact and grow a "new" open heart program. The Clinical Nurse Specialist's/Clinical Nurse Educator's primary job is to identify staff educational needs and provide clinical instruction, collaborate in the management of heart and vascular patients, facilitate best nursing practices, serve as a leader, consultant and liaison, and conducts research to improve nursing practice.

The qualified candidate must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and possess a current GA RN license. Current BLS/ACLS certifications and a Master’s of Nursing from an NLN accredited program are required. A minimum of 3 years of recent open heart experience is needed. Certification by national certification board via specialty organization or other national nursing professional organization and at least one year of clinical nurse specialist or nursing management experience are preferred. Must have board certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to impact and grow a NEW Open Heart surgery program, led by the Cardiothoracic Medical Director, Dr. David Langford! Celebrating 500 PCI cases in just our first seven months of operation, our program has grown quickly to become one of the region’s busiest cardiac centers. With the opening of the Heart & Vascular Center at GMC-Lawrenceville, the hospital will launch Gwinnett’s first and only open heart surgery program.
