About Cardiac Ultrasound Tech Jobs
An Ultrasound of the heart is sometimes referred to as echocardiography. It's a test using high-frequency sound waves to create an image of the heart. Images from reflected echoes are displayed and recorded. No radiation (x-ray) is used during ultrasound.
The test is done by a cardiac sonographer (a technologist with extensive training in ultrasound) and takes 20 to 30 minutes to complete. A benefit of an echocardiographic examination is that images are in real time giving Cardiologists a helpful tool for diagnoses. (Source: radiologyinfo.com and American Heart Association)
Oregon Heart & Vascular Institute, located in Eugene, Oregon, has an opportunity available for a full-time Supervisor of Echocardiography. We are seeking an experienced, team-oriented individual to join our talented staff, as we plan and prepare our move to a brand new state of the art facility located on the scenic banks of the McKenzie River, opening in the summer of 2008.
We are an ICAEL accredited and fully digital echo lab utilizing Philips Xcelera and Philips Ie33 and Sonos 5500 and 7500 ultrasound machines.
We provide a full array of services including adult, pediatric, TEE, stress, contrast, ICE, and mobile services.
We are seeking a graduate of a CAAHEP accredited cardiac ultrasound program who is RDCS or RCS registered, has several years of full time hospital-based experience including previous supervisory experience in a similar environment.
The OHVI is affiliated with Sacred Heart Medical Center; a 435-bed regional medical center in Eugene, Oregon.

Job Requirements: Credentials as an RDCS or RCS are preferred and/or will be required within one year of employment.
Education:
Must be a graduate of an accredited ultrasound program with emphasis in cardiac sonography.
Licensure/Certification:
ARDMS or RDCS required. Pediatric credential strongly preferred.
Experience:
Seven years experience as a diagnostic cardiac sonographer in a major medical center strongly preferred. Previous leadership experience in a diagnostic ultrasound lab required.
Special Skills Required:
Skilled in all aspects of echocardiography including transthoracic, pediatric, transesophageal and stress echo.
