About Cardiology Jobs

A cardiology physician is trained to discover, treat and prevent problems and diseases of the cardiovascular system-the heart, arteries, and veins. Cardiology is considered a subspecialty of internal medicine (IM). Cardiologists have three years of training in internal medicine and three addition years that specialize in cardiology.

Cardiologists often perform tests that determine how well a person's heart is working. These procedures may include a treadmill test (exercise electrocardiogram), cardiac catheterization, or angioplasty. Cardiologists can further specialize in interventional cardiology or electrophysiology. (Source: American College of Cardiology)

Interventional Cardiologist

This three person group is growing rapidly and is looking for an interventional cardiologist.

The group is seeking a well trained invasive interventional cardiologist. This position is for a coronary interventionalist who is ready to take over a busy existing practice. They go primarily to 1 medical center and round on 4 additional hospitals that are in a ten minute range. Call will be 1:3 or more.

The group offers a 2 year track to partnership with a low buy-in. First year salary is negotiable and extremely generous. Compensation at partnership is among the highest MGMA percentiles. Overhead is reasonable and is expected to drop with the addition of more physicians.

The group is collegial and is committed to being fair to each other. They work hard and offer excellent patient care. This is a great option for someone interested in a busy, rapidly growing service that is located in the Midwest.

Fellows finishing their training in 2010 or 2011 as well as senior physicians will be considered.
