About Cardiovascular Surgery Jobs

Cardiovascular surgery is for patients with diseases of the heart and great vessels. It includes procedures such as heart bypass surgery, pacemaker insertion, cardiac transplants, and repairs of congenital heart disease. Cardiovascular surgery also provides treatment for many complex cardiac problems, including hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM), and thoracic aortic aneurysms (TAA). Requirements include:

Doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy; foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates

Current license to practice medicine in teh United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico

Eligibility for board certification

Completion of at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship

Completion of a training program in pulmonary disease

Between 21 and 42 years of age (may request a waiver)

U.S. citizenship
