Located in Minnesota, on the shores of Lake Superior. Duluth is about 2.15 hours from Minneapolis/St.Paul, and is about 200k in population. They have a service area of nearly half a million. It also is a harbor city with numerous lighthouses overlooking Lake Superior. The Hospital is a 267 bed regional care facility and a level 2 trauma center established in 1881. The University of Minnesota also has their Family Medicine residency program there so you would have the ability to teach as well if you like. Duluth is a regional medical, cultural, entertainment, educational, banking and retail center serving northeast Minnesota, northwest Wisconsin, upper Michigan and southern Ontario, Canada. Cultural activities include the acclaimed Duluth/Superior Symphony Orchestra, professional Minnesota Ballet Company, Duluth Playhouse, Duluth Art Institute, Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center, Omnimax Theater and Great Lakes Aquarium. Recreational opportunities are bountiful including fishing, camping, golfing, hiking, boating, and downhill and cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and skating.
This community is home to the College of St. Scholastica, the University of Minnesota Duluth, Lake Superior College, Fond du Lac Community College and across the bay, the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
