Manager, Cardiology Services


Department and Position Overview:

 

Elliot Health System is in the process of expanding many of our programs, and realigning our departmental landscape to best support our strategic initiatives.  As part of this effort, we are developing a multidisciplinary vascular center to expand our varied cardiology services to elevate the Cardiology Department to the next level and you will play an integral role in this endeavor. In 2011, our newest location at River’s Edge will also provide non-invasive cardiology services so as to provide flexibility and the highest quality of care to our patients. In this role, you will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge of invasive and non-invasive cardiology services to assess, and develop the Cardiology Department to enhance efficiencies and productivity. You will work collaboratively with physicians, and other staff to foster positive relations for a continued cohesive environment, and will create and enhance current processes to ensure the delivery of quality care and safety to our patients.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Director of Patient Care Services, oversee a staff of 20+ FTE’s, including RN’s, Clinical Technicians, and EKG and Echo Technicians between the Cathlab, Non-Invasive Cardiology, and the Recovery Area
  • Oversee all phases of operation for Invasive and Non-Invasive Cardiology Services, facilitating physician and staff use of the most state-of-the-art technological skills and equipment and ensuring that the daily operation of Invasive and Non-Invasive Cardiology Services are efficient and safe while maintaining high quality standards for patient care
  • Review and maintain quality statistics pertaining to Door to Balloon time
  • In collaboration with others, research and choose an appropriate inventory system to meet the departments’ current and future objectives
  • Coordinate the scheduling of cardiologists and staff to perform all invasive and non-invasive procedures offered at Elliot Hospital and serve as liaison between physicians for prioritizing patient scheduling needs
  • Establish guidelines, protocols, coordinate education and training, and supervise new programs related to the Cardiology Department in the hospital
  • Establish the standards for supply levels and assure that the levels are maintained; Establish systems to maintain cost effective utilization of personnel, supplies, and equipment in response to a high volume of procedures with variable acuity
  • Manage and maintain the departmental budget, and perform other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in a related healthcare field or equivalent experience is required and a Master’s degree is preferred
  • Must have an RN or Cath Lab Technician background
  • Knowledge and understanding of invasive and non-invasive cardiology procedures is required
  • 5 years of experience in a critical care environment including cath lab, electrophysiology (EP), interventional radiology, or other related experience
  • Must be a strong leader with excellent communication skills and must think outside the box
  • Self-starter, an excellent problem solver with good judgment
  • Must work well independently and be a team-player, and must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
