About Electrophysiology Jobs
Cardiac electrophysiology is the study of the heart's electrical system. An electrophysiology study or EP requires insertion of an electrode catheter into the heart. The test is designed to determine the cause of heart rhythm disturbances and usually takes about two to four hours to perform. Some electrophysiology studies are done to diagnose abnormalities while others are done for treatment or correction of certain conditions, such as Pacemaker Implantation, ICD Insertion, or Cardiac Ablation.
Cardiac electrophysiology is considered a subspecialty of cardiology, and requires one or more years of fellowship training beyond a general cardiology fellowship. (Source: WebMD and Wikipedia)
Rapidly growing group is seeking an Electrophysiologist to build a program for this busy group who is currently referring out 320 EP procedures per annum.
The successful candidate must be someone who is interested in an opportunity where they can use all of their skills in a work intensive but extremely rewarding, both financially and personally, environment. The EP labs are new and equipped with EnSite, EP Cockpit and EP Navigator as well as lasers for lead removal. They also serve as a developmental site for Siemens.
The volumes of this group are impressive at this time and the potential is enormous. This practice offers a perfect setting for a cardiologist interested in a very busy and lucrative practice just 1 hour from Atlanta. The successful candidate will bring training including CARTO, EnSite and AFib Ablations.
Their offices are located on the eighth floor of the newly constructed heart Institute. The practice will be the only group with offices in the new facility. The heart institute will house all outpatient and diagnostic cardiac and vascular services under one roof. It will include 6 cath labs, 2 peripheral labs and 3 EP labs, a 64 slice CT scanner as well as 13 procedure labs, 60 23-hour stay beds, 42 recovery rooms, and 10 diagnostic testing rooms (for ultra-sound echo test, EKG treadmill stress tests, and other less-invasive procedures).
§ Call is 1:6 weekends and although at this time, the partners follow their own patients on weekdays they plan to review this policy and will have a similar schedule to the weekend schedule for call on weekdays.
§ The group also has two PA’s and two NP’s who work on the weekends an assist with the call schedule.
§ Vacation is generous.
§ Compensation is in the seven figures at partnership and compensation in years one and two is extremely generous.
§ Partnership is at the end of the second year and the buy in is very reasonable.
§ With a huge referral base that includes a significant military patient population this group is poised to grow significantly.
Senior physicians and Fellows with strong credentials finishing their training in 2010 or 2011 will be considered.
