Practice Description:

A new era of integrated care has arrived at Spectrum Health. The Spectrum Health Medical Group, launched in October, 2008, brings physicians together to practice as an integrated team, visit shmg.org. The Spectrum Health Medical Group is expanding their Congenital Heart Center at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. Our expanding pediatric heart program has an exciting opportunity for a Cardiologist with special interest in Fetal Echocardiography. We are also recruiting for two additional Cardiologists with interest in Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Electrophysiology. In June, 2012 a second, lead Pediatric Cardiac Heart Surgeon joined our medical staff. We have also recruited a lead Pediatric Cardiologist who joined our medical staff in March, 2013.

  • · The current Pediatric Cardiology Division includes 10 Pediatric

Cardiologists: 7 located in Grand Rapids and 3 in Lansing (60

miles east of Grand Rapids)

  • · Our expert pediatric heart team also includes pediatric cardiology

nurses and a board certified Pediatric Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon.

  • · The scope of our practice includes both inpatient and outpatient cardiac evaluation and care. Our Pediatric Cardiology specialists

use advanced technology and leading-edge protocols to diagnose, treat and manage heart disorders in infants, children and

teens, including congenital and acquired conditions.

  • · As the largest Pediatric Cardiology group in West Michigan, we provide the following services: Diagnostic and Interventional

Cardiac Catheterization including structural interventions, cardiac intensive care management, diagnostic echocardiography

including 4D imaging, 2D and 4D transesophageal, echocardiography, diagnostic evaluations with electrocardiogram (ECG or

EKG) monitoring, treadmill exercise studies and treatment of pre- and post-operative pediatric cardiac surgery patients, fetal

echocardiography, heart failure management and procedures, preventive cardiology/lipid management, pulmonary hypertension

evaluation and drug therapy.

  • Adult congenital heart management and interventions including the management of failing Fontan circulation.
  • Advanced technology includes a state-of-the-art Siemens bi-plane cardiac catheterization lab and a 3 and 4D echocardiography lab with a dedicated physician reading room
  • · The new Cardiologist is expected to see some general cardiology patients
  • · Experience in interventional cardiology is desirable
  • · Shared call schedule between Grand Rapids providers
  • · We offer Pediatric Cardiology clinics in Holland, Muskegon, Cadillac and Traverse City
  • · Strong and well established primary care referral base. Full array of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists affiliated with

the children’s hospital including clinically strong and collaborative Anesthesiologists, Radiologists, Critical Care Intensivists,

Hospitalists and Neonatologists

  • · Primary academic partner of Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Faculty appointments for qualified

candidates are available

  • · Pediatric and Internal Medicine/Pediatric residency programs, as well as medical students from Michigan State University College

of Human Medicine rotate on the service

  • · Support for clinical research is available

Qualifications:
